Playerunknown's battlegrounds: Review

Are you looking for a game that is both intense, challenging and extremely fun? Then stick around for our review of Playerunknown's battlegrounds!

Before we begin please let me make it clear that Playerunknown's battlegrounds is still in early access, and that everything currently in the game is subject to change.

PUBG or Playerunknown's battlegrounds is a battle royal inspired game developed/published by Bluehole along side with Brendan Greene also known as the Playerunknown. Even though Playerunknown's battlegrounds is still in early access, they have managed to create a groundbreaking online shooter. Every game starts the same way, but battlegrounds have managed to make every single game feel unique from the start.

Gameplay

The game starts off by about 100 players jumping from a plane on to the island of Erangel, from here the players objective is to scavenge for loot and kill other players. There is action right from the start of the game till it ends. To make sure that players don't camp out the whole match, players are forced to move to even smaller and more open areas as a deadly force field closes in.

How you choose to approach the game is up to you. You might prioritize getting to the center of the circle, move slowly on the border of the forcefield as it closes or camp out in a house until you are forced to move, the possibilities are endless!

To make sure the game ends at some point the forcefield will keep shrinking until players die outside the play zone or are killed by other players, the winning team or player will receive the following message: "winner winner chicken dinner", which has no meaning to it other than it sounds good.

Weapons:

Playerunknown's battlegrounds offer a wide variety of weapons to choose from, there are currently:
  • 20 main weapons
  • 4 pistols
  • 4 grenades
  • 4 melee weapons

I'm going to go over some of the weapons from different categories.

AKM is a powerful assault rifle that uses the 7.62 class of ammunition. This rifle does more damage than the 5.56 AR's but with a side effect of having much more recoil. It is best used in single shot mode unless you are breaching buildings with it, which it is not intended for.

Kar98k this is currently the only bolt-action sniper rifle that drops normally on maps and sometimes in air-drops. as the other sniper rifles only comes in air drops. Because of this, the Kar98k is usually a very good weapon for long-range engagements without having the risk of going to air drops for sniper rifles.

M249 is currently the only LMG in the game, it fires the 5.56 mm NATO cartridge ammo.
The M249 currently only comes in air drops, and it seems there's a good reason to this because with its 100 rounds magazine and high fire rate the M249 is a god tier weapon if used correctly.

UMP is currently 1 of 3 SMGs in the game, the UMP fires 9mm rounds and is the perfect weapon for close combat because of its high fire rate and plenty of attachments that go with it.

S1897 The S1897 excels in clearing houses with quick and easy use. Caution is to be taken as missing one shot can easily spell out your death due to the pump action. This shotgun is a firm reminder that in real life, shotguns tend to shoot farther than most people estimate them to. Do not be afraid to take shots at people at a decent range away.

Pan A cast-iron pan purpose built for cooking up hate for your enemies. In game the pan is capable of killing an unarmored opponent in two hits on the body or one hit to the head. The pan will also block bullets fired at players while equipped and while unequipped, allowing it to act as a small shield.

Graphics

Playerunknown's battlegrounds use the unreal engine 4 which generally makes the game look really good, it also makes the weather have a big impact in the game. If it rains the map will feel foggy and gloomy making it hard to hear and see other players, this forces you to change the way you play the game which in general makes the experience feel unique.

Pros/Cons

Pros
  • Fun
  • Large map
  • Lots of ways to approach the game
  • Balanced weapons system
Cons
  • Bugs lots of bugs
  • Crashes a lot
  • Requires a good computer to run
  • Jumping in the game might piss you off at some point.

Final comment

Oh man! I can't wait to see where Bluehole brings this game, it's so much fun to play and it's only in early access, it's going to be exciting to see what weapons they will bring into the game, or how the new map that was announced some time ago will play out. Over all, I was really satisfied with the Playerunknown's battlegrounds experience.

Rainbow Six Siege: Gameplay and Screenshots

For me, Ubisofts presentation at E3 2014, have been the most exciting, might be because I'm a little Ubisoft fanboy, but they really have some awesome titles on the way.

But let's talk more about that another time, this post will be about Rainbow Six Siege, which was un-announced before the show, and was presented by the CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, himself.

I haven't played the earlier games in the series, but this one really seems good.
The franchise is basicly about a fictional international anti-terror squad/unit, who goes by the name "Rainbow", and in the gameplay video showed tonight we see 5 persons working against a group of terrorists and haves to save a hostage from a house.

The environment is a really important part of the game, as you can destroy walls, blockades and blast through doors and windows, to get to the hostage in the best way possible.

The game seems to be solely multiplayer, at least for now, and you will probably be able to play both as anti-terror team and terrorists. Afterall a really exciting game for me, it looks really promising.
Below is the E3 gameplay video together with some screenshots.

Enjoy!

//Please note that all this footage is from a pre-alpha stage of the game.

Anno Online - Review

Hello, guys as many of you loyal fans of Ubisoft knows they introduced a free browser-based game called Anno Online, which provide a style alike The Settlers. The meaning is that you have to build your city up, from a little village to a large city. I started playing this game when we received a mail from Ubisoft, i thought that it sounded interesting so i just went directly to it, and as always i like to do it myself so i skipped the tutorial. I really regret that i skipped it so i took on the help option again.

Gameplay

The gameplay is very simple, you see the land from above you just place buildings and roads like it was a normal strategy game.

To the right you see a picture of how it looks like when you control the city, you can pick an resource to every house, example if you are low on fish you can make them use wool. You start out with a little area of land where you can build a little village, but you can buy more land if you need to expand more. There is this thing i see as very difficult i can't build more storage buildings. So i'm having a giant overcome, which i find as a very bad thing cause i can't even build a mine. I played The Settlers once, and i literally sucked, so when i came in Anno i found it very hard and its very simple actually, but you need to have a good vision over your city.

Graphics

The graphics are actually very good of a game like this, its not often in-browser games got a graphic like this.
There isn't actually more to say than its a graphic like Age Of Empires III and The Settlers if you haven't seen those games before i highly recommend you to try them.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Browser game
  • You can play with your friends
  • Easy to start
  • You can trade among players all over the world/servers

Disadvantages:

  • Lots of bugs
  • The servers is sometimes offline
  • It can be boring over time

Final Comment

This game is okay, i would put it in the category ''average'' but remember, it's still in beta. I'll hope it will get improved a lot more. I would say that Ubisoft made a good job, but i've seen better.

Simcity 2013 - Review

This time we will take a look at the newest must-have game, it is nothing else than Simcity 5, some like to call it Simcity 2013, i don't know. I got the game on release date in Europe, but i had to wait for a bunch of hours before i finally came into the servers, but since then i have been playing the game for around thirty hours, and i can say nothing else than: OH MY GOSH. THIS IS EPIIIC.

And with that intro, lets get right to it!

Gameplay

The gameplay in Simcity is basicly that you start with a big area and your job is to build a city. That sounds easy right? Well, it is as long as you don't care if the residents are happy or if you are earning money.

See, if you want to get the much out of Simcity 2013, then you have to be sure to get power, water, have a sewage system that is working, place your industry where the residents doesn't gets annoyed by the pollution, you have to make public transport, schools, police and fire stations, hospitals, commercial buildings, and i could be going on forever.

You start by building a road from the highway, and that was the first step into unlimited power of giant regions. As a player of Simcity 2013 you have to make zones for houses, stores and industrial buildings, all along with the whole lot of roads you are able to choose between. You have to think about how your city is built, as you don't have unlimited budget (well, there is a sandbox mode, but..).

When you are getting a bit into the game and when your city is beginning to earn a bunch of money, then you can choose if you want to be the ultimate oil paradise, or maybe the newest Las Vegas, with casinos and giant hotels all over the place, or maybe you want to have tourists, it is all up to you, the possibilities are endless.

Another thing that is very big in Simcity 2013 compared to the earlier games, is that you can play with your friends, and you work together with them, and can make bigger and better cities, if you understand to work together. Oh, and if you don't have any friends, then you are lucky that you can play with complete strangers, too!

There is so much in the gameplay, that even after playing the game for more than thirty hours, i still don't have discovered all the features of the game.

This was a shot round up of the gameplay, so let's take a look at the graphics.

Graphics

The graphics in Simcity 2013, is not like Skyrim or Assassin's Creed, but as long as you don't zoom as much in as possible (woops, that was alot of "as"), then it looks quite good, but it is easy to see that this was not what was the main focus, but they are fine for the game, and i'm satisfied. And of course, the graphics are much better than in the earlier games.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Great and perfect gameplay
  • Social features
  • Small and hidden features
  • Beautfiul music
Disadvantages:
  • No offline mode
  • A bit of problems with the servers
  • Impossible to expend city region

Final comment

Well, i don't really have anything to say other than i really like this game, and i will keep playing many months from now on, this is one of the games you can't get tired of. The only thing i am really sad about is that i can't play it when i am in the train, or at other points i don't have internet. But other than that i can nothing, but recommend the game to everyone i see.
